Challenges

BP Exploration invests heavily in the technologies that support day-to-day operations in BP’s Oil and Gas business. With a mandate to manage corrosion inspection across a diverse estate of complex facilities, much of which can be deemed inaccessible, the people who conduct inspections need access to information that is operationally relevant. This business imperative led BP Exploration to engage NobleTech to deliver a software tool that facilitates the translation of scientific information into operational information by making it easy to access and search for engineers in the field using terminology relevant to their working practice.

Solution

NobleTech Limited has written an online tool which facilitates the selection of the most appropriate inspection technique based on operational parameters. With a large library of technical and scientific documentation available from HOIS and other sources, the ability to present the most relevant information to support people in selecting the most appropriate inspection techniques on live installations is a business imperative for BP Exploration.

Benefits

With field-based inspection teams faced with a bewildering array of potential inspection techniques, the means to ensure that the right information is presented in a useful format has the potential to improve radically the reliability of inspections as well as substantially reducing downtime.
